About March I start trying to plant things because I get so excited for spring! This year instead of starting the seeds way to early, we decided to create grow boxes in the back yard. Last year our yard was under such drastic construction that we ended up not having a garden area and grew things out of big black 5 gallon containers we picked up at the local nursery. Today our yard was finally ready for the grow boxes! Hooray!

We created three grow boxes out of 4x4 posts, cedar fence planks, and 2x4's. Since this is for a vegetable garden we made sure all the wood was
untreated.

Can you tell our nitrogen test was at 0! Grass will be something we tackle this summer! Our boxes are 3'x5' and we were able to fit three into a 8'x9' space.

Here they are with a shot of the pergola and rock patios. By the summer we hope to be growing lots of good fruits and veggies.
