February is about when I start to get a little twitchy for spring. One year I tried to start my seeds for my garden...not a good idea! I think this twitchy-ness is one reason we started doing projects for our anniversary. We have TONS of traditions in our family, but this is one of my favorites. I love working on projects with my hubby because it gives me an amazing opportunity to appreciate how his brain works! It's awesome!
This year we decided to create a cushion for the bench we made in January. This was a bit tricky because neither one of us is good at sewing, nor do we own a sewing machine. Don't get me wrong all those pajama bottoms and shorts we made in YW growing up paid off...if I'm desperate, I just prefer to work with hot glue, wonder under, and staples!
We found the material clearanced at Joann's for $6.00 a yard with an additional 10% off that. Plus we found bags of filler for $2.00 a bag!!!! All in all we spent less than $40.00 for the cushion. The best part is that it is washable!!!! Hooray!
We cut and measured the shapes we needed out of wood and the material and then stuffed them with the filling before we stapled all the layers together.
Here is the finished project! We still have lots to do in the kitchen but at least the bench is done! The following week we painted the kitchen a bright happy chamomile yellow! Now all we have to do is tackle the cabinets!
